Lexington Legends News Release

The Savannah Sand Gnats came from behind with four runs in the eighth inning to take a 5-2 win over the Lexington Legends Saturday night in Savannah.

The Legends took a 2-1 lead into the bottom of the eighth, but Tyler Moore started the winning rally with a single. Patrick Biondi bunted for a hit, and the runners moved to second and third when pitcher Torey Deshazier threw past first for an error after fielding Biondi's bunt. Luis Guillorme's infield single scored Moore with the tying run, and John Mora's single to right field brought Biondi home with the go-ahead run as Guillorme went to third. Guillorme scored on a wild pitch to give Savannah a 4-2 lead as Mora went to second. Stefan Sabol followed with another single, moving Mora to third, from where he scored on a sacrifice fly by J.C. Rodriguez.

The Legends took the early lead with a run in the second inning. Elier Hernandez and Wander Franco started the inning with singles. After Chase Vallot bunted into a force play, Humberto Arteaga singled to left field, scoring Franco.

Brandon Downes led off the top of the third with a double, his fourth two-base hit in two nights. He went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Carlos Garcia and scored on a sacrifice fly by Alfredo Escalera.

Legends' starter Nik Stephenson allowed just one infield hit through the first five innings, but the Sand Gnats rallied in the sixth. With one out, Biondi singled and went to second on a wild pitch. Mora's two-out single scored Biondi to cut the Legends' lead to one at 2-1, where it remained until the eighth.

Savannah starter Josh Prevost (1-4) pitched the first eight innings and gave up 10 hits, but picked up his first win of the season. Deshazier (3-2), who entered the game with two outs in the sixth, took the loss.

The Legends have won two of the first three games in the series, which concludes Sunday. Game time is 2:05 p.m.
