
Ashton, Wininger Pace the Field in "Run, Forrest, Run" 5K

CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Eric Ashton and Virginia Wininger were the fastest runners in the male and female divisions, respectively, in the 12th Annual "Run, Forrest, Run" 5K, Saturday afternoon at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park.
Ashton recorded the best time of all male participants at 15:13 while Wininger's time of 20:44 was tops among female competitors. In the Masters category, King Grant-Davis finished with a time of 18:46 to lead the Masters Males division. The Masters Females leader was Cynthia Bohr, who clocked in at 22:06.
This year's event featured over 600 participants and ended at home plate of Riley Park. Finishers were greeted at the finish line by scores of well-wishers, including members of the RiverDogs team that were cheering, holding signs, and using noisemakers.
Sponsors of the "Run, Forrest, Run" 5K included the Fleet Feet Sports, Charleston Chiropractic, Orange Theory Fitness, Mary Kay, Gutter Guard, Blend Juice Bar, Iron Bridge Crossfit, Apex Broadcasting, WCIV-TV 4, and Kitchen Magic of the Lowcountry. Proceeds will benefit the MUSC Storm Eye Institute.
