San Diego Gulls News Release

SAN DIEGO - Tyler Weiman has been named a runner-up for Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors, the ECHL announced Tuesday. This marks the third time this season the netminder has earned runner-up honors. He was named Goaltender of Week for Jan. 1 - Jan. 8.

Weiman appeared in three games for the Gulls last week, going 2-0-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average and .953 save percentage.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 180-pounder from Lloydminster, Alberta began the week Wednesday stopping 28 of 30 shots in San Diego's 3-2 win over Long Beach. He played the final two periods Friday against Las Vegas, turning aside 24 of 26 shots en route to a no decision. Weiman then stopped all 29 shots Saturday in the Gulls' 1-0 victory over the Wranglers, the first-ever 1-0 game in ipayOne Center/Sports Arena history.

Weiman is now 12-10-3 overall with a 2.82 GAA and .910 save percentage. He's also appeared in six games for the American Hockey League's Lowell Lock Monsters, going 3-2-0 with a 2.88 GAA and .898 save percentage.

The Colorado Avalanche, San Diego's NHL affiliate, originally assigned Weiman to the Gulls in early October. He spent portions of training camp with both Colorado and Lowell.
