IDAHO FALLS, ID - Despite eleven hits offensively, the Missoula Osprey (22-21) fell to the Idaho Falls Chukars (22-20), 9- 5 at Melaleuca Field on Tueday night. Missoula centerfielder Kevin Watson's lone hit came as a triple in the 6th inning, his sixth of the season.
Osprey third baseman Jose Reyes led the way for the O's at the plate, ending his night 3-5, knocking in a run. 1B Spencer Brickhouse and SS Liover Peguero both finished 2-4.
Idaho Falls' Cody Davenport (W, 2 -2) allowed four runs in three innings, striking out two.
O's starter Josh McMinn (L, 1 -2) knocked in five runs on six hits, striking out five.
The Chukars reached the scoreboard early with a run in the bottom of the 1st , but the Osprey tied the game an inning later. Idaho Falls would score two in the 3rd , four in the 4th , and one more in the 5th , enough to put them in front for good.
Osprey pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts, with five from McMinn, two from Oliver Rosario, Nick Marchese, and Landon Whitson, and one from Chris Williams. O's batters only struck out four times.
The Idaho Falls win on Tuesday sets up the rubber match for Wednesday night, first pitch at Melaleuca Field at 7:15.
The Osprey return to Ogren Park at Allegiance Field on Thursday night for Stadium Happy Hour, starting a three-game series vs Great Falls. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be American Cancer Society Weekend, with the O's wearing out of this world special jerseys all weekend long!
