Idaho Falls Chukars News Release
Idaho Falls, ID - In the midst of a funk, the Chukars offense got rolling early on a hot night at Melaleuca Field. Idaho Falls scored a run in the first, and two in the third, and four in the fourth, cruising out to a lead they would never relinquish. The Chukars downed the Missoula Osprey 9-5, evening their series up at a game apiece.
For the fourth straight game, the Chukars got on the scoreboard in the first inning. Jose Marquez started with a single, and then Clay Dungan walked. Rhett Aplin then singled into left field, plating Marquez to make it 1-0 Chukars.
Missoula tied the game in the second inning as a leadoff double from Spencer Brickhouse scored on a sacrifice fly from Francis Martinez. The Chukars though took the lead for good in the third inning. Dungan singled with one out, and Aplin followed with a walk. Two batters later, Juan Carlos Negret singled to right center, scoring Dungan to make it 2-1. Aplin then scored on a wild pitch with Isaiah Henry up, extending the lead to two.
In the fourth inning though, the Chukars busted the game open. Kember Nacero & Tyler James hit back to back singles with one out, and converted a successful double steal with Marquez up. Marquez struck out, but with Dungan up, a wild pitch brought Nacero home. Dungan then doubled home James, and Aplin followed with a two run homer, making it 7-1 Chukars.
Alec Marsh went the first three for Idaho Falls, allowing just one run over three innings. Cody Davenport went the next three and picked up the win, his second in as many appearances. Derrick Adams threw three scoreless innings to finish the game, earning his team leading fourth save. Isaiah Henry hit a home run in the seventh inning, his fourth of the year.
Tomorrow the Chukars play the rubber game of their three game set against the Missoula Osprey, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM. Tickets are still available by visiting ifchukars.com.
