Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

MISSOULA, MT - The 2019 Pioneer League All-Stars were announced Monday, a roster that includes five members from Missoula. Liu Fuenmayor, Patrick McGuff, and Josh McMinn made the pitching list, with SS Liover Peguero and OF Tristen Carranza listed as starters for Tuesday's game.

The 2019 All-Star game will feature the Pioneer League All-Stars vs the Northwest League All-Stars, squaring off on Tuesday, August 6, in Boise, ID. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30pm MDT.

After signing with Arizona in 2019 as a free agent, OF Tristen Carranza transitioned an impressive year with New Mexico State to the rookie-advanced level. In 37 games, Carranza has managed to reach base safely in 35 of them, bolstering a .447 OBP.

As a starter for Tuesday's all-star game, Carranza boasts a .318 average with nine doubles, and five homers.

In his first year at in the rookie-advanced league, shortstop Liover Peguero enjoys what feels like a breakout season in 2019. After a tough .197 average in the Arizona League a season ago, Peguero's plate presence is one of the best in the league, representing a .373 batting average in 35 games.

Ranked as the Diamondbacks' 16th prospect in the system, Peguero's defensive potential, as well as his contact abilities at the plate, earns him a starter spot for Tuesday's game.

Right-handed veteran Patrick McGuff continues his first year in the Diamondbacks' organization, with numbers that represent someone with his experience. In 46.2 innings, the Cincinnati-native has recorded 52 strikeouts, walking only 11 batters. After being released by his second organization at the end of the 2018 season, McGuff's strong first half earns him a roster spot for Tuesday's game.

Left-hander Liu Fuenmayor has been one of the most dependable relief pitchers for Missoula in 2019, striking out 40 batters in only 27.2 innings on the mound. The Venezuelan-native has only allowed 11 walks in 11 appearances, limiting batters to a .173 average.

Right-handed starter Josh McMinn comes to the Diamondbacks' organization, following an impressive collegiate campaign at Oral Roberts. After respectfully denying being drafted by Minnesota in 2016, McMinn's first year in the Arizona system has been a quality one. In 32.0 innings, the Oklahoma City-native has struck out 42 batters, allowing 12 walks. As one of the trusted starters to make the Osprey pitching staff as solid as it's been, McMinn limits batters to a .216 average.

The Osprey will be home next on Thursday, August 1 for Stadium Happy Hour at Ogren Park at Allegiance Field. Gates open at 6:00, with first pitch against the Great Falls Voyagers at 7:05 pm. A three-game series leads the Osprey into the all-star break, with the Pioneer League squaring off against the Northwest League all-stars on Tuesday, August 6, at 7:30 MDT in Boise, ID.

All Osprey game tickets can be purchased at the MSO Hub Box Office, located at 140 North Higgins in Downtown Missoula, online at MissoulaOsprey.com and by phone (406) 543-3300.
