Washington Falls Again to Lake Erie

Avon, Ohio - Zach Rosenbaum allowed six runs on seven hits in 5.2 innings as the Washington Wild Things, presented by Washington Financial, lost their fifth straight game, falling to the Lake Erie Crushers 8-2.

Lake Erie jumped to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second. Eddie Tisdale singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second after Rosenbaum hit Andrew Saylor. Wayne Boyd then tripled home Tisdale and Saylor for the early lead.

Jodam Rivera doubled to lead off the bottom of the third and after Andrew Davis and Travis Vetters groundouts, Tisdale doubled to score Rivera and give Lake Erie a 3-0 lead. The Crushers added four more runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. Tisdale finished with three hits and scored two runs. Wayne Bond and Rivera also recorded three hits each and combined for five RBIs.

Matt Smith allowed one run on four hits in six innings of work to earn the win for Lake Erie.

Washington scored in the top of the fifth after Alan Robbins singled home Luis Rivera and in the top of the ninth after Robbins singled to score Joel Hartman. Robbins finished with two hits and two RBIs.

The Wild Things return home to CONSOL Energy Park Thursday, June 17, for a six-game homestand starting with a matchup against the Kalamazoo Kings. Game time is 7:05 p.m. with pre-game coverage at 6:55 p.m. on WJPA 95.3 FM. Thursday's game features several promotions, including Dollar Thirst-day, St. Patrick's Day in June Celebration and the CONSOL Energy Health & Safety Fair.
