Florence Y'alls News Release

FLORENCE, KY - Over the past month, the Florence Freedom and ACE Hardware have been asking kids, 'Why Should Your Dad Get To Be A Florence Freedom Player For a Day?'

Shelby Supinger of Independence, Kentucky answer that question best and was crowned as the winner of the contest.

Thanks to Shelby's award winning essay, she and her father Mike will be added to the Freedom's roster on Father's Day, get to take batting practice with the team, don their own personalized Freedom jerseys and enjoy the game together down in the Freedom dugout.

In the essay Shelby wrote, "My dad should be given this opportunity because he has been very stressed and put down lately from the loss of his job."

Pulling at heart strings are always key to winning essay contests.

The thirteen year old concluded with, "This would give him the chance to realize that family and fun is what's truly important and this would make him feel very confident and have fun!"

The Father's Day fun will not just be limited to Shelby and Mike, as all dads and their kids can take part game of catch down on the field before the game, team up in an ACE Hardware tool belt painting station and enter raffle give-a-ways courtesy of ACE Hardware.

Game time for Sunday, June 20 is 6:05 p.m. and the Freedom will be taking on the Normal Cornbelters.

Families can pick up their tickets for the ACE Hardware Father's Day celebration at FlorenceFreedom.com or by visiting the Champion Window Field box office at 7950 Freedom Way in Florence, Kentucky.
