All Star Week To Be Filled With Fun And Excitement At Rent One Park

The Southern Illinois Miners are announcing a full schedule of events at Rent One Park for the upcoming 2010 Frontier League All-Star Week presented by Peoples National Bank.
"This is going to be a fun week with lots of opportunities for the fans to get a close look at the best of the Frontier League," Miners General Manager Tim Arseneau said. "We're excited to bring a great week of events like these to the community and show off the nation's best fans to the rest of the league."
The week will begin on Monday, July 12 with Miners Music Fest - All-Star Edition featuring Craig Morgan and Rodney Atkins and special guests Her & Kings County. The concert is presented by Peoples National Bank, Miller Lite - Koerner Distributor and New Country Z100. The gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and the concert will begin at 7 p.m. All tickets are general admission and are now on sale at the Rent One Park box office. A spectacular fireworks display by Pyrotecnico will immediately follow the concert.
The all-star festivities will continue Tuesday, July 13 with the All-Star Luncheon at Rent One Park. Tickets are just $15 for the event, and tables of eight are available for $120. An all-star player will be seated at each table. The autograph session will begin at 11 a.m. and the luncheon starts at 11:45 p.m.
On Tuesday afternoon the all-stars will be helping out in the community by making appearances at the Marion VA hospital, the Lighthouse Shelter, TLC Therapy Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Carbondale.
Later that night, the action returns to the field with the Frontier League Home Run Derby and Celebrity Softball Game presented by Dr Pepper. The night begins with Home Run Derby at 7 p.m. Each of the eight all-star sluggers competing will be paired with a fan to compete for the title of Home Run Derby Champion. The winner and the fan will each win $1,000. The softball game will follow with well-known personalities from around the region competing in a fun-spirited game. The celebrities will be available for autographs throughout the night.
The 18th annual Frontier League All-Star Game presented by Peoples National Bank is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14. It will pit the East Division All-Stars against the West Division All-Stars. The gates will open at 6 p.m. Pyrotecnico will provide another spectacular fireworks show immediately following the game.
