BOISE, Idaho. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Idaho Stampede 120-102, handing the Stampede their 7th straight loss. The win saw a balanced scoring effort from Santa Cruz, with seven different players scoring in double-figures.
Joe Alexander led the Warriors with 24 points on an 11 of 18 scoring effort. Guard Elliot Williams was two rebounds short of a triple-double, finishing with 21 points, 10 assists, and 8 rebounds. Taylor Griffin scored 17 points, 13 of which were notched during the fourth quarter. Sean Kilpatrick and James Michael McAdoo added 15 apiece, and Mychel Thompson and Dominique Sutton added 13 and 10, respectively.
Idaho received strong performances from Kevin Murphy and Joel Wright, who were two of the three players from the Stampede scoring in double-figures. Murphy notched a game-high 29 points and Joel Wright recorded a double-double, racking up 28 points and 11 rebounds. Jerrelle Benimon contributed with 22 points in the loss.
The sharpshooting Warriors set the tone early in the game shooting 63% from the field in the first quarter. Santa Cruz held the positive momentum, finishing with a 58% field goal percentage on the night leading by as much as 20 in the fourth quarter.
Santa Cruz and Idaho meet a total of six times in the 2014-15 regular season continuing with tomorrow night's final game of the weekend double-header against the Stampede at 6:00 p.m. Pacific.
