Mad Ants Acquire Talton from Vipers

FORT WAYNE, IN (December 19, 2014) -The Fort Wayne Mad Ants announce today that they have acquired Rio Grande Valley's Gary Talton in a trade for their 2015 First Round Draft pick. Talton, pending a physical, will join the team tomorrow, December 20th, as they travel to play the Grand Rapids Drive at 7:00 p.m.

Rio Grande Valley selected Talton 16th in the 4th round of the 2013 NBA Development League Draft. Talton started his collegiate basketball career at Mountain View Community College (Texas), where in his first season, led the Lions to a National Junior College Athletic Associate (NJCAA) Division III national championship. Talton went on to play at Illinois-Chicago University; where in his junior year was immediately named to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team. During his final year, he was named to the Second Team All-Horizon League, where he averaged 12.3 points, 4.4 assists, and 4 rebounds per game.

During his career with the Vipers, Talton averaged 9.9 points per game and finished second overall in all-time assist leaders in Viper team history. Continuing his success, Talton finished the season first in single season assists with 339.

In his last game, Thursday, December 18th, Talton recorded 20 points, 10 rebounds and 20 assists in the teams' loss at home to Delaware. Talton had a similar performance in the team's December 12th loss at Westchester, scoring 20 points, grabbing 4 rebounds and recording 9 assists.
