Fresno Falcons News Release
Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that rookie defenseman Tom Walsh has been recalled by the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Worcester Sharks.
After signing with the Falcons as a free agent during the off-season, Walsh earned an invite to the Sharks' training camp, and signed an AHL contract. He started the season in Worcester before being reassigned to the Falcons in time for the October 20 season opener. Walsh returned to the Sharks on November 27, spending nearly three weeks in the AHL before heading back to Fresno on December 17. Walsh has appeared in four games for Worcester this season, picking up one assist.
Walsh represented the Falcons in the 2007 Rbk Hockey ECHL All-Star Game in Boise last month. The Harvard University graduate has two goals and seven assists in 43 games with the Falcons this season.
He was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Walsh will not arrive in time to play for the Sharks tonight in Lowell, but should be in the line-up on Friday when Worcester hosts the Portland Pirates.
Fresno is off until Sunday when it travels to Long Beach for a 5:00 p.m. face-off against the Ice Dogs. Catch all of the action on 1550 and 96.1 Sporting News Radio starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show at 4:45.
