
Berkhoel called up to Rochester

Dayton, OH- Head Coach and General Manager Don MacAdam announced today that the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League have reassigned goaltender Adam Berkhoel to the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.
Berkhoel, a 5'11", 185-pound native of St. Paul, Minn., was originally assigned to the Bombers by the Sabres at the beginning of the 2006-07 season. He has appeared in 38 games with the Bombers, posting a record of 21-14-3, a goals against average of 2.31 and a save percentage of .911. Berkhoel has already set a Bombers club record for most shutouts in a season with his ECHL leading five. He currently ranks second in the ECHL in goals against (2.31), sixth in wins (21) and 12th in save percentage (.911). Earlier this season, Berkhoel was named the 2007 RBK ECHL All Star MVP for stopping 10 out of 11 shots in the first period of the American Conference's 6-3 victory over the National Conference.
Rookie Dan LaCosta, who was recently reassigned to the Bombers by the Columbus Blue Jackets, is expected to start this weekend in Reading for the Bombers. LaCosta is 3-4-1 in nine appearances with 3.50 goals against average and .873 save percentage.
The Bombers are now 24-18-4 and have the same record at home as they do on the road (12-9-2). They remain in third place, now three points behind the Trenton Titans for second and still six points in back of first place Cincinnati. The Bombers are on the road this weekend for two very important games with the Reading Royals who are only two points behind the Bombers in the standings. They will return home to the Nutter Center next Tuesday, February 27, at 7:00 p.m. to make up the game against the Toledo Storm that was cancelled due to weather conditions on February 13th.
