A groovy crowd was on hand for our Boom with a Beat fireworks night. The Milkmen delivered an impressive victory wearing limited edition tie-dye jerseys to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Woodstock.
The scoring began in the second with Sioux City jumping out to 1-0 lead with an RBI single by Dylan Kelly.
The Milkmen would answer in the second, with an RBI single by Cesar Valera. Milwaukee would gain the lead in the fourth following a Nolan Earley RBI single and a three run bomb from Dan Ward.
Sioux City would attempt to answer back, scoring in the sixth off a solo home run from Jose Sermo, cutting the Milkmen lead to 5-2.
Milwaukee would answer in the sixth with a solo shot by Adam Walker (10) and an RBI double by Glen McClain.
The scoring finished in the seventh with an RBI double off the bat of Sioux City's Dylan Kelly.
Coach Gary McClure credits the win to "A complete game, where we played all three facets of the game well and we beat a really good team."
In regards to his recent hitting success, Adam Walker says "It's all about staying focused and being aggressive on the pitches I know can hit. This allows me to have such a high level of play."
Milwaukee's starting pitcher, Angel Ventura, was able to hold down the fort throughout 7 innings and got his fourth win of the season. He allowed 10 hits and 3 runs (all earned), 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.
Losing pitcher, Pete Tago, went 6 innings, yielding 11 hits, 7 runs (all earned), 7 strikeouts and 0 walks.
The Milkmen continue their series against the Explorers with a game July 13 with a 6:05 pm first pitch.
