Biloxi Shuckers News Release
PENSACOLA, FL - The Pensacola Blue Wahoos (55-50, 25-12) scored five runs in the first two innings against the Biloxi Shuckers (63-44, 22-15) in a 6-3 win on Monday night at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
Jose Siri was the catalyst for the Blue Wahoos runs in the first and second. Leading off against RHP Jon Perrin (L, 0-2), Siri singled to left, stole second and third and scored on a single from Aristides Aquino, putting Pensacola out to a 1-0 lead. Siri then drove in Mitch Nay with an RBI single in the bottom of the second, stole third and scored on a throwing error as part of a four-run frame for the Blue Wahoos.
On the mound, Pensacola starter RHP Tony Santillan (W, 4-0) worked around limited base runners during his outing, limiting the Shuckers chances. Biloxi's best scoring opportunity against Santillan came in the second, when Trent Grisham drew a walk and move to third on a double by Luis Aviles Jr. Perrin came to the plate and made solid contact, but bounced out to short to end the Shuckers scoring threat. All told, Santillan tossed 5.2 scoreless innings, allowing four hits and issuing two walks while striking out 11.
The Shuckers prevented the shutout in the eighth. Lucas Erceg worked a walk in front of Richie Shaffer, who demolished a pitch from RHP Alejandro Chacin over the left field wall and out into Pensacola Bay, his first with Biloxi, to make it 8-2. Clint Coulter, who turned 25 on Monday, entered the game as a part of a double switch and launched a solo homer in the ninth, his sixth of the year. RHP Daniel Reynolds and RHP Miguel Sanchez each tossed two scoreless innings for Biloxi in the defeat.
Biloxi continues their series with the Blue Wahoos on Tuesday night at 6:35 PM. LHP Cameron Roegner is scheduled to make his debut for the Shuckers. Pensacola RHP Daniel Wright (6-6, 3.60) will oppose him. The game can be heard locally on Cruisin' WGCM AM 1240/FM 100.9, TuneIn Radio or the MiLB First Pitch App.
