Mobile BayBears News Release

MOBILE, Ala. - The Mobile BayBears, the Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels, were outlasted 9-5 by the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in the completion of Sunday's suspended game and were shut out 5-0 in the originally scheduled game Monday night at Hank Aaron Stadium.

SUNDAY'S GAME:

The BayBears grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the fourth inning before giving up five runs over the next two frames. However, Mobile bounced back to tie the game with a four-run bottom of the sixth. Jack Kruger hit a two-out, three-run triple to tie the game 5-5.

Despite having 13 opportunities with runners in scoring position, Kruger's bases-clearing triple was the only hit. The BayBears left 11 men on base in the game.

The Jumbo Shrimp pulled away late, scoring runs in each of the last five innings.

MONDAY'S GAME:

The offensive woes continued for the BayBears (51-54 overall, 14-23 second half) in Monday's originally scheduled game, a seven-inning contest. Robert Dugger (3-5) pitched a complete-game shutout and gave up just three hits.

After squandering an opportunity with two runners on base in the first, Mobile was held to just one hit for the remainder of the game. Dugger retired 14 consecutive batters from the second inning through the sixth.

Monte Harrison hit an RBI double to open the scoring in the first inning, and the Jumbo Shrimp (42-64, 14-24) never trailed. Jeremy Beasley (2-3) lasted just 4 1/3 innings after tossing seven scoreless frames in his previous start.

Monday marked the first time the BayBears were shut out in a home game this season.
