
C Brett Cumberland and LHP Bruce Zimmermann Traded to Baltimore Orioles

PEARL, MS - The Atlanta Braves made the following roster moves affecting the M-Braves roster before tonight's 7:00 pm game against Birmingham at Trustmark Park. LHP Bruce Zimmermann and C Brett Cumberland have been traded to Baltimore Orioles.
Earlier today, the Atlanta Braves acquired RHP Kevin Gausman and RHP Darren O'Day from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for RHP Evan Phillips, INF Jean Carlos Encarnación, Cumberland, Zimmermann and international signing slots.
Cumberland, 23, was 2-for-18 in five games for the M-Braves since his promotion from High-A Florida on July 25. Cumberland appeared in 82 games for High-A Florida, batting .236 (66-for-280) with 15 doubles, 11 home runs, 39 RBI, 40 runs and .367 OBP during a Florida State Lague All-Star season for the Fire Frogs.
The Braves selected Cumberland with their Competitive Balance Round B selection (76th overall) in the 2016 draft out of the University of California.
Zimmermann, 23, was 2-1 with a 3.14 ERA (10 ER/28.2 IP), 26 strikeouts and 19 walks in six starts for the M-Braves since his June 28 promotion from Low-A Rome. Overall this season, Zimmermann is 9-4 with a 2.86 ERA (36 ER/113.1 IP), 37 walks, 125 strikeouts in 20 starts combined between Rome and Mississippi.
Zimmermann's best month was in May, finishing with a 4-1 record and 1.72 ERA, giving up just seven earned runs over 36.2 IP with 24 strikeouts and just four walks. The Woodstock, MD native made his Double-A debut for the M-Braves on June 29 at Pensacola and struck out 10 and walked three over 6.1 innings of one-run ball.
The Braves selected Zimmermann in the fifth round (140th overall) of the 2017 Draft out of the University of Mt. Olive (NC)
The Mississippi Braves roster currently stands at 23 active players and 4 players remain on the Disabled List.
