The Jumbo Shrimp won the first contest 9-5 that had been suspended due to rain Sunday in the bottom of the first inning, then topped the BayBears 5-0 in a seven-inning game. Jacksonville has won the first three games of the five-game set to claim a series victory, the first road series win since taking three of five at Birmingham from June 3-7.

Game One - Jumbo Shrimp defeat BayBears 9-5

Yesterday rain and lightning suspended the second game of the series with no score in the bottom of the first, and then in Monday's resumption of the contest Jacksonville won by a 9-5 score.

Jacksonville right-handed relief pitcher Jose Pena (2-3) earned the win, while BayBears right-handed relief pitcher Samil De Los Santos (1-1) took the loss. Jacksonville left-handed relief pitcher Miguel Del Pozo worked the final two innings in scoreless fashion to earn the save.

The BayBears broke through with the game's first run in the bottom of the fourth, when Unroe reached on a fielder's choice to score Zach Gibbons from third to put the lead at 1-0. Jacksonville quickly responded in the top of the fifth with Brian Schales hitting a two-run homer to left to grow the lead to 2-1. With two outs, Monte Harrison added to the fifth inning advantage with his RBI single to put the lead at 3-1. Jacksonville tacked on two more runs in the top of the sixth when a run scored as Eric Jagielo hit into a double play, then an RBI single by Justin Twine grew the lead to 5-1.

Mobile responded with a four-run bottom of the sixth. First against Poteet, Gibbons hit an RBI double to cut Jacksonville's lead to 5-2. With two outs and the bases loaded, Jack Kruger hit a three-run triple to center field to tie the game at 5-5. Jacksonville quickly went back in front in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Chris Diaz to go back ahead 6-5. The Jumbo Shrimp added two more runs in the top of the eighth, with Twine contributing his second RBI single of the game, and then a Rodrigo Vigil sacrifice fly put the score at 8-5. The Shrimp scored in a fifth straight inning at the plate in the ninth when Jagielo added a sacrifice fly of his own to put the score at 9-5, which would be the final.

Cody Poteet had a no decision pitching in his 24th birthday, as he took over to begin the resumption in the bottom of the first and worked four and two-thirds innings where he allowed three runs (all earned) on six hits with five walks and four strikeouts.

Game Two - Jumbo Shrimp defeat BayBears 5-0 in Seven Innings

The Jumbo Shrimp earned a series win by winning the night cap 5-0 in seven innings behind a complete game shutout effort by right-handed starting pitcher Robert Dugger (3-5). Dugger, the Marlins No. 24 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, worked all seven innings in scoreless fashion where he allowed just three hits, walked one, and struck out four as he earns the first shutout victory of his career, and his second career complete game.

Mobile right-handed starting pitcher Jeremy Beasley (2-3) took the loss, working four and a third innings where he allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
