
Wagner, Hamels set for special night

Baseballtown's own "Broadway" Charlie Wagner, a member of the Boston Red Sox since 1935 and a lifelong Reading resident, will receive his World Series ring on Wednesday, July 6. Wagner, 92, will receive his ring in an on-field ceremony just prior to the Reading Phillies 7:05 PM game vs. the Akron Aeros (Cleveland). Story
Shortly after the ring ceremony, 21-year old lefty Cole Hamels, the Phillies 1st round draft choice in 2002 (17th overall) and third best prospect according to Baseball America, will make his AA debut vs. the Aeros. Story
