Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that RHP Grant Roberts has been added to the roster, being transferred from Extended Spring Training. His addition brings the Thunder roster currently to 23 players.

Roberts was signed in mid-April by the New York Yankees after being released by the New York Mets. He has been in Extended Spring Training for the last two months continuing his recovery from a torn labrum.

Originally an 11th Round selection in the 1995 June Draft, Roberts has been with the Mets organization for his entire professional career. He appeared in 23 games for Binghamton during the 1999 season, going 7-6 with a 4.87 ERA. Roberts also made one rehab appearance for the B-Mets in 2002.

Roberts had appeared in 76 games for the New York Mets over the last five seasons with a 4-4 record, one save, and 4.25 ERA. His best season came in 2002 when he appeared in 34 games for the Mets, carrying a 3-1 record and a 2.20 ERA.

The Thunder continues a three-game series with the Portland Sea Dogs tonight at Waterfront Park. Game time is 7:05 PM. Charlie Isaacson (5-2, 2.77) starts for Trenton against Portland's John Lester (5-2, 2.77).
