(Norwich, Conn.) -- New Britain pitching walked 10 Navigators hitters, including three straight with the bases loaded in a five-fun 5th inning, and Norwich got a brilliant pitching performance from starter Seung Song as they blanked the Rock Cats, 8-0, at Dodd Stadium tonight.

The Navigators pushed across single runs in the 3rd and 4th innings to go ahead 2-0, but really broke things open in the 5th. Norwich sent 10 men to the plate in that innings and used two hits and five walks (three of which were with the bases loaded, forcign in runs) to score five times and open up a 7-0 lead. The Navs would tack on their eighth and final run in the 7th innings

But the real story of the game was the performance by Song (1-2). For the third time in four starts in a Navigators uniform, Song went seven innings and had his finest outing so far tonight. Song allowed just four singles and one walk in his seven shutout innings, while striking out six. Song's game was especially impressive due to the tight strike zone which contributed to New Britain pitchers walking 10 Norwich hitters on the day. Song picked up his first win with the Navigators and New Britain starter Glen Perkins (0-1) took the loss. Eliezer Alfonzo led the Navigators offensive attack by reaching base in all four of his plate appearances, with two hits and two walks. He scored two runs.

The Navigators will try to make it two straight over the Rock Cats when they send lefty Brian Burres to the mound tomorrow night. He will be opposed by New Britain lefty John Thomas. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
