Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release
The Eastern League announced today that Binghamton Mets infielder David Bacani has been named to the Northern Division squad that will compete in next week's Eastern League All-Star Game. He replaces B-Mets infielder Chase Lambin, who was called up to Triple-A Norfolk June 30th.
Bacani enters tonight's B-Mets game against New Hampshire with a .293 average, three home runs and 28 RBI in 54 games. The Long Beach, CA native has played all over the diamond for the B-Mets, getting into 23 games at third base, 16 at shortstop and 10 at second base. This is Bacani's second straight EL All-Star selection. He was also named to the Northern Division squad for last year's game at Bowie, MD. The fifth-year pro is in his third season with the B-Mets, also seeing time with Norfolk in 2004. Bacani was drafted in the 22nd round by the New York Mets in 2001 out of Cal State-Fullerton.
Bacani is the fifth B-Met selected for this year's EL All-Star game, joining Lambin, first baseman/catcher Mike Jacobs and pitchers Yusmeiro Petit and Brian Bannister. The Northern Division All-Stars will compete against the Southern Division All-Stars on Wednesday, July 13th at Hadlock Field in Portland, ME.
