Voit Joins SWB on Rehab Assignment

MOOSIC, PA - New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit has begun a Major League rehab assignment with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Voit will be in the RailRiders lineup today as they play the Buffalo Bisons in Trenton. He is recovering from a strained right oblique that sidelined him on May 27.

Voit was with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre at the outset of the season on a rehab assignment after left meniscus surgery during Spring Training. He appeared in five games for the RailRiders during their season-opening series in Syracuse, hitting .389 with three home runs and six runs batted in.

Voit returned to the Yankees on May 11 and played 12 games before his oblique injury. In his 12 games spanning 50 plate appearances, the 2020 home run champion is hitting .182 with one home run and three runs batted in.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre concludes its series in Trenton against the Buffalo Bisons today at 1:00 P.M. The game can be heard live online at swbrailriders.com and through the MiLB First Pitch App. The RailRiders host the Syracuse Mets at PNC Field starting Tuesday, June 15, with a 7:05 P.M. first pitch.
