
Parra's Grand Slam gives Rochester win over the IronPigs

(Allentown, Pa) - Rochester Red Wings (14-22) left fielder Gerardo Parra hit a go-ahead grand slam against Lehigh Valley IronPigs (18-18) pitcher Julian Garcia (0-2) in the top of the ninth inning to take a 7-3 lead. It was the first time this season an IronPigs pitcher gave up a grand slam.
Rochester started the game by scoring two runs against IronPigs starting pitcher Matt Moore in the top of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead. Cody Wilson hit a two-run double to score Daniel Palka and Brandon Snyder. The IronPigs tied the game against Red Wings starting pitcher Sterling Sharp in the bottom of the second inning. Ryan Cordell scored on a fielder's choice and Adam Haseley scored on a double-play groundball.
Tres Barrera hit a go-ahead home run against Moore in the top of the fourth inning to give Rochester a 3-2 lead. Moore left the game after five innings as he allowed three runs off six hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Mauricio Llovera pitched a scoreless inning in relief of Moore in the top of the sixth inning.
Nick Maton tied the game in the bottom of the sixth inning as he led off the inning with a home run against Sharp. It was his first triple-A home run. T.J. McFarland (1-1) earned the win by pitching two scoreless innings in relief. Justin Miller finished out the game for Rochester by striking out two batters.
Lehigh Valley begins a six-game series in Worcester against the WooSox beginning on Tuesday evening at Polar Park.
