Vipers Select Johnson and Hunt in First Round of NBA Development

MCALLEN, Texas - The NBA Development League Rio Grande Valley Vipers selected James Johnson with the second pick in the first round of the NBA D-League Draft. The Vipers also drafted Dario Hunt in the first round with the sixteenth pick.

Johnson (F, 6'9, 245) played for the Wake Forest University Demon Deacons from 2007-09, where over two seasons he averaged 14.8 ppg, 8.3 rpg. As a freshman he led the Demon Deacons in scoring and rebounding, and finished second in the ACC Rookie of the Year poll. Johnson was drafted 16th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2009 NBA Draft. In addition to the Bulls, he has played for the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings.

Hunt (PF, 6'8, 230) played for the University of Nevada Wolf Pack from 2008-12. The four-year starter averaged 10.3 ppg, 9.8 rpg and 2.4 blocks per game during his senior season. At the end of his senior campaign, Hunt was the only player in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) history to score the 1,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 250 blocks during his collegiate career. During the 2012-13 season, Hunt played overseas with BC Odessa and OkoStadt Gussing Knights.
