Van Buren named to All-Star Team

Iowa Cubs closer Jermaine Van Buren has been named to the 2005 Pacific Coast League All-Star Team. The team is selected by league managers and media representatives. Van Buren, who set a franchise record with 24 saves so far this season, was also named to the PCL's mid-season all-star team and participated in the Triple-A All-Star Game July 13 in Sacramento. Former Iowa Cubs infielder Rick Short, now with New Orleans was selected as the designated hitter on the all-star team.

2B- Andy Green, Tucson
SS- Danny Klassen, Round Rock
3B- Mike Coolbaugh, Round Rock
C- Jeff Mathis, Salt Lake
OF- Brandon Watson, New Orleans
OF- Todd Linden, Fresno
OF- Aaron Guiel, Omaha
DH- Rick Short, New Orleans
RHP- Felix Hernandez, Tacoma
LHP- Matt White, New Orleans
RP- Jermaine Van Buren, Iowa

The PCL will announce their 2005 Rookie of the Year Tuesday, the Pitcher of the Year Wednesday, the Most Valuable Player Thursday and the Manager of the Year Friday.
