Round Rock Express News Release

(Albuquerque, NM) - Round Rock lefty Jimmy Anderson came out of the gate on Tuesday night at Isotopes Park in firm control. Anderson pitched shutout baseball for four innings, giving up only five hits.

His teammates had given him a 2-0 lead into the fifth but by that time the Express had stranded seven runners on base. Those runners came back to haunt the Express as the game wore on.

Albuquerque tightened it to 2-1 in the fifth off Anderson, but in the top of the sixth, the Express put up two more on RBIs from center fielder Charles Gipson and first baseman Carlos Rivera to stretch the lead to 4-1.

Then in the bottom of the sixth, the Isotopes showed why they perform so well in the light air of Isotopes Park. They banged out four runs on six hits and took over the lead 5-4. A solo homer in the top of the seventh and solid bullpen work put Albuquerque ahead to stay with a 6-4 final score.

Anderson took the loss, also his first of the season. For the night, the E-Train left runners in scoring position in the second, third, fourth, sixth and eighth innings.

Round Rock opens play on Wednesday night at Isotopes Park, two and a half games behind American Southern Division leading Oklahoma with only six regular season games left.

The E-Train sends righty Roberto Giron to the mound in a 7:00 Central Time start.
