Tri-City ValleyCats News Release
Think you can do better than Josh Hamilton's home run barrage at the 2008 MLB All-Star Game? Join the ValleyCats on Wednesday, August 14 as they take on the Batavia Muckdogs for the All-Star send Off Celebration. The Tri-City ValleyCats will host a Media Home Run Derby prior to the game where members of the media will face off against their friends and foes to determine the greatest slugger of the press box. The winner will receive a New York-Penn League All-Star jersey and will have the opportunity to call the play-by-play of the NYPL Home Run Derby on Tuesday, August 19.
Here are the rules: Two representatives from each media outlet are allowed to participate. Representatives will compete before the ValleyCats face the Batavia Muckdogs on Thursday, August 14 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The competition will be tournament style where the home run leaders from television, radio, and print advance to the championship round.
The event will take place at about 6:00 pm; right after batting practice is complete. We ask that the participants are at the stadium ready to go at 5:45.
Don't miss this opportunity to showcase your slugging skills to your colleagues in the media and recite your greatest home run calls. If you are interested please RSVP by Wednesday, July 30. Contact Media Relations Manager Matt Van Pelt you are interested (mattvanpelt@tcvalleycats.com, 629-2287 ext.13).
