TROY, N.Y. - This summer, minor league baseball fans have the opportunity to make their voice heard for the 2008 New York-Penn League All-Star Game. Fans can now vote for their favorite New-York Penn Leaguers at the official website of the NYPL All-Star Game, allstarchoice.com until August 11. The New York-Penn League is joining Major League Baseball and Triple-A as the only American professional baseball leagues to allow fan voting for the All-Star Game.
The Tri-City ValleyCats, in a partnership with Major League Baseball Advanced Media, launched allstarchoice.com as the online voting home for the New York-Penn League All-Star Game. The site includes an online fan ballot, information regarding the All-Star Fan Fest and all news pertaining to the two day All-Star festivities.
The 2008 New York-Penn League All-Star Game is the fourth in league history. After being held in Brooklyn, Aberdeen and Hudson Valley the first three years, the Midsummer Classic is calling Tri-City home in 2008.
On Monday, August 18 the All-Star Fan Fest will be held at Troy's downtown area featuring a free concert by Eddie Money. The New York-Penn League All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday, August 19 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy, N.Y. with a rain date scheduled for Wednesday, August 20.
