-SPIKES AND SPINNERS TO FINISH SUSPENDED GAME: Last night's game between the Spikes and the Lowell Spinners was suspended in the bottom of the fourth inning, with the Spikes leading, 2-1. After finishing out the suspended game at LeLacheur Park, the two teams will play a seven-inning game.
-LAST NIGHT: Before the rains forced the game's suspension, Ciro Rosero had two doubles in his first two at-bats for the Spikes. Cole White will officially have a 17-game hitting streak, one shy of the Spikes' team record, once the suspended game becomes official tonight. White singled in the fourth inning to extend the streak. Butch Biela and Chad Rice each have an RBI for the Spikes. Lowell's Ricardo Burgos has a solo home run as well.
-TONIGHT'S GAME TWO SPIKES STARTER: Ryan Kelly is scheduled to go for State College in the second game. The right-hander makes his sixth start, and seventh total appearance, of the year. In his last outing, Kelly went four innings against Tri-City, allowing one run on two hits and a walk while striking out six. The six strikeouts was a season high for any Spikes pitcher in a single appearance. Kelly will try to improve on a 9.72 road ERA tonight.
-TONIGHT'S GAME TWO SPINNERS STARTER: Lowell has Drake Britton slated to pitch the second game tonight. Britton, the 23rd round draft pick of the Boston Red Sox in the 2007 draft, is making his seventh start of 2008. Last time out, the southpaw went three innings at home against Mahoning Valley, allowing a run on four hits and a season-high four walks while striking out two. Britton has walked at least two batters in each of his last four starts, and now has strikeout-to-walk ratio at home of 7:9.
-THE LAST TIME...: This is the first suspended game the Spikes have completed since their Opening Night game last year against Williamsport was suspended and completed on June 21st. The Spikes won that game, 5-2.
-SPIKES VS. SPINNERS ALL-TIME: The Spikes lead the all time series, 4-2, having taken two of three games at both LeLacheur Park in 2006 and Medlar Field at Lubrano Park in 2007.
