West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies were unable to hold a 3-1 second period lead Sunday evening at the E-Center, falling 8-3 to Las Vegas. Utah finished the three-game weekend series 2-1 versus the first-place Wranglers.
The Grizzlies again took a 1-0 first period lead with Matt Craig finding Barret Ehgoetz (7) from down low at 6:43. Utah held the Wranglers to 0/5 on the power-play in the opening frame.
In the second, Matt Craig, again camping out down low, found Garett Cameron (9) in front of the net at 1:36 and Utah took a 2-1 lead just 33 seconds after Las Vegas tied the game at one. The Grizzlies took a 3-1 advantage just over two minutes later, with West Valley native D.J. Jelitto scoring his fourth goal of the season. From that point, the Wranglers took over with seven unanswered goals to defeat Utah 8-3. Las Vegas went 3/13 on the power-play.
Matt Craig (2 assists) earned his ninth multi-point night of the season. D.J. Jelitto (1 goal, 1 assist) also had two points for Utah. Ryan Kinasewich extended his team season-high point streak to eight in the loss, drawing an assist.
The Grizzlies hit the road this weekend for three-games-in-three-nights in California. Utah returns home a week from Wednesday to host Long Beach at the E-Center. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
