Checkers rally late, beat Lynx in shootout

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers overcame a two-goal deficit to force overtime and defeat the Augusta Lynx in a shootout Monday night in front of 3,617 fans at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Jeff Glass stopped 34 shots during regulation and overtime as well as stopping all four shootout attempts by Augusta.

Glass was named the First Star of the game as he picked up his sixth win of the season (6-3-2). Mike Bayrack was named the Second Star of the game after scoring the second goal during the shootout. Bayrack also tallied an assist on the game-tying, short handed goal by Luke Stauffacher at the 11:07 mark of the third period.

Augusta jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first period on goals by Brian Passmore and former-Checker Ryan Lang. Charlotte finally got on the board on a goal by Walker McDonald. McDonald, playing his first game of the season, was name the Third Star of the game.

Both the Checkers and Lynx failed to convert on five and six power play chances, respectively. Michael Wall took the loss for Augusta stopping 29-of-32 shots.
