'Blades watch two get call to AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president & general manager Craig Brush, along with head coach Gerry Fleming announced today that defenseman Grant McNeill and goaltender Craig Kowalski have been called up to the American Hockey League.
McNeill, 22, heads to the Rochester Americans after posting one assist in 18 games with the Everblades this season. The 3rd round draft pick by the Florida Panthers in 2001 makes his third trip to the AHL in his three-year professional career. McNeill spent parts of the previous two seasons with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL, skating in 73 total games and racking up 341 penalty minutes.
The native of Vermillion, Alberta has played in 117 career pro games, collecting 517 PIM. Prior to turning pro, McNeill amassed 929 PIM in 260 career junior games with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League.
Kowalski heads to the Lowell Lock Monsters for his first career trip to the AHL. The 24-year-old departs the Everblades after compiling a 12-6-0 record with a 2.80 goals against average in 18 games this season.
Prior to his call up, Kowalski had won 10 of the last 12 games he appeared in for the Everblades. The Clinton Township, Michigan native began his professional career last season with the Everblades, posting a 13-6-6 record with a 2.87 GAA. Prior to turning to the professional ranks, Kowalski spent four years at the collegiate level with Northern Michigan University where he posted a 68-49-12 record in 132 career games.
The Everblades return to action Tuesday, January 3, 2006 when they take on the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 8:05 p.m. from the Pensacola Civic Center in Pensacola, FL. Everblades 2005-06 group tickets and individual game tickets are on sale now!
