Lingren and Taylor National Conference All-Stars

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings are proud to announce that veteran Defenseman Steve Lingren and rookie Forward Adam Taylor have been selected to the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game. Lingren and Taylor will represent the Salmon Kings and the National Conference, on January 25, 2006 at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California.

Lingren, 33, is in his 12th professional season and has been honoured as one of the two starting defensemen for the National Conference. The Lake Cowichan, BC native has played 32 games for the Salmon Kings this season and has recorded 11 goals and 13 assists for 24 points. Lingren leads all ECHL defensemen in goals and powerplay goals, with eight.

"It is nice to see Steve was identified as one of the top defensemen in the ECHL, because he is. It has got to be a treat for fans in Victoria to see him play every night," said Head Coach and General Manager of the Victoria Salmon Kings, Bryan Maxwell.

Taylor, 21, leads all Salmon Kings rookie scorers with nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points. The Courtenay, BC native joined the hockey club at the end of training camp, after starting the season at the University of British Columbia. Taylor was drafted in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft in the seventh round (224th overall) by the Carolina Hurricanes. Taylor is 11th in ECHL scoring by a rookie and will join nine other rookies on the National Conference roster.

"Adam is our youngest player and he plays such a huge role with our hockey club, he kills penalties, plays on the powerplay and often plays against the opponent's top line. This is a feather in Adam's hat to move on to bigger and better things in the future," said Maxwell.

The starting line-up for the National Conference All-Star teams was selected by the coaches, team captains, media directors, broadcasters and newspaper writers. Lingren will be joined on the blueline by fellow defenseman Ryan Gaucher (Alaska Aces), forwards Luke Curtain (Fresno Falcons), Garrett Bembridge and D'Arcy McConvey (Idaho Steelheads) with Chris Beckford-Tseu (Alaska Aces) getting the call between the pipes.
