West Valley City, Utah - The Utah Grizzlies peppered a team-record 55 shots on Long Beach Ice Dogs netminder, Greg Hewitt, but it was not enough as the Ice Dogs went on to a 3-2 shootout victory Saturday night at the E-Center.

In the first period, it was Ryan Kinasewich who got the Grizzlies onto the scoreboard with two precision passes from Garett Cameron and Brian Escobedo. The Ice Dogs responded less than two minutes later, when Justin Aikins scored his third goal in four games against the Grizzlies. Cory Urquhart put the Ice Dogs on top 2-1 when he took a rebounded puck and found the back of the net for the tenth time this season.

Early in the second period, Colt King tied the game at two, when he broke free into Ice Dogs territory and blasted the puck past Greg Hewitt.

The third period was a defensive struggle as neither team was able to light the lamp.

The defensive battle continued, as both the Ice Dogs and the Grizzlies were unable to score in the five minute, four on four, overtime period.

In the shootout, it was Chris Kenady who lifted the Ice Dogs to a 3-2 advantage, in round five, and Long Beach to their first four-game winning streak of the season.

Utah (20-15-3) returns to the E-Center Friday night, January 20, to take on the Phoenix RoadRunners. Face-off is at 7:05 p.m.
