Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - Steve Saviano's 30-foot wrist shot capped off a three-on-two rush for a game winning goal, as the Florida Everblades (23-9-2, 48 pts) rallied to hold off the Stockton Thunder (6-19-4 16 pts) by a 3-2 score in front of 6,382 at Stockton Arena.
Florida took the lead at 18:09 in the first period when the Thunder misplayed an outlet pass behind their own net; the puck ricocheted off goaltender Jeff Weber's skate and bounced into the Thunder goal. The Everblades' Greg Black was credited with the goal.
Phil Aucoin added an unassisted goal for Florida just 22 seconds into the second period. Aaron MacInnis notched the first goal for Stockton one minute later on the power play, with a nifty 15-foot wrister to beat Florida netminder Phil Osaer over his left shoulder.
In the third, Geno Parrish tied the game up at 2-2 for Stockton when he was able to put the puck past Florida goaltender Phil Osaer while fighting a scrum in front of the goal. Parrish's rebound goal at 14:22 came fresh off an Osaer save from Steve Slonina's left circle shot. Saviano then gave Florida the game-winning goal at the 15:18 mark.
Thunder goaltender Jeff Weber made 37 saves, and Geno Parrish netted a goal and an assist. Stockton held the Everblades (fourth in the ECHL in power play percentage) scoreless in four opportunities on the power play.
The Thunder and Everblades reconvene at Stockton Arena on Saturday, with a 7:30 p.m. (PT) faceoff scheduled. The game can be heard live on the internet (free-of-charge) and is available for viewing at a $6 "pay-per-view" rate at www.stocktonthunder.com, courtesy of B-2 Networks.
