Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI-Milwaukee Admirals forward Scottie Upshall was playing his third game in three nights for the first time this season, but if he was tired it certainly didn't show tonight. Recently reassigned to the Ads, Upshall scored both the game-tying and game-winning goals to lift the Admirals to a 4-3 overtime win over the Toronto Marlies.

Upshall netted the game-deciding goal after the Marlies were whistled for a too many men on the ice penalty at the 1:15 mark overtime. Libor Pivko threaded a pass to Upshall, who was positioned in the slot, and he poked the puck past Toronto goalie JS Aubin.

However, Upshall almost didn't have the chance to pot the game-winner. Admiral defenseman Kevin Klein made an outstanding play to block a clearing attempt from the Marlies Andy Wozniewski and then settled the puck, sent it to Pivko, and the rest was history.

Just under six minutes earlier, Upshall tied the game at three with another power play marker, his fourth goal in his last three games. The Fort McMurray, ALTA native deflected a Scott Nichol shot to beat Aubin and send the game into OT.

The Admirals lead 2-1 after one period thanks to goals by Corey Hessler and Chris Durno that came just 34 seconds apart. Hessler's tally was his first ever in the AHL. The Marlies answered with a pair of their own when Brad Leeb scored at the 13:53 mark of second and Bates Battaglia found the back of the net at 4:33 of the third.

Pivko and Rich Peverley both chipped in two assists to add the Admirals offense, while goalie Pekka Rinne made 27 saves to run his record to 16-10-1 on the season and 14-3 on the Bradley Center ice. Battaglia, who has 485 games of NHL experience, recorded two goals to pace the Marlies.

This was the second consecutive game that the Admirals needed overtime to determine a winner. Last night the team fell to Grand Rapids 3-2 when Don MacLean scored just 35 seconds into the extra frame.

The Ads continue a stretch of five games in seven nights this Tuesday when the Cleveland Barons make their third visit of the year to the Bradley Center. Puck drop is slated for 7:00 pm. For tickets, fans can call (414) 276-4545 or log on to www.ticketmaster.com.
