Cleveland Barons News Release

ROSEMONT, IL - Matt Carkner and Lukas Kaspar each scored a pair of goals leading the Barons to a 6-3 win at Chicago on Sunday. The Barons won their second consecutive road game on a trip that continues Tuesday in Milwaukee.

Late period penalty trouble cost the Barons, who trailed 1-0 after the first twenty minutes of action. Chicago scored the game's first goal with a five-on-four advantage at the 18:53 mark of the period. Stephen Baby converted a rebound tally for his sixth goal of the season. Derek MacKenzie and Greg Naumenko assisted on the goal for the Wolves. Chicago's Michael Garnett made 14-saves as the Barons out-shot Chicago 14-9.

Lukas Kaspar scored twice for the Barons who earned a 2-2 tie after forty minutes of action. Kaspar's eighth of the season came just 95-seconds into the period on a set-up from Tomas Plihal to tie the game at 1-1. Less than three minutes later Ramzi Abid re-established the lead for Chicago with a power play goal, his 18th of the year. With Chicago enjoying another power play, Kaspar answered for the Barons with his second short-handed goal of the year to tie the game at 2-2.

Ownership of the game was transferred from Kaspar to Matt Carkner during the intermission as the Barons defenseman scored two goals in the final frame leading the Barons to their second straight road win. Carkner's 6th and 7th goals of the year came within the first 4:39 of the final frame giving the Barons a 4-2 lead. Chicago's Pat Dwyer trimmed the lead with a goal for the Wolves less than two minutes later. However, the momentum shift was kicked to the curb as Mike Iggulden added an insurance marker at the 15:55 mark beating Garnett with a backhand tally. The Barons put the game away with a late power play goal from Steve Bernier with less than two minutes to go.

The Barons longest road stretch of the season continues Tuesday night at Milwaukee. Game time is at 8pm (EST) and can be heard live through the Barons official web site, www.clevelandbarons.net.
