Rochester, NY - Jeff Deslauriers turned aside 34 of the 35 shots he faced to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 3-1 win over the Rochester Americans on Sunday night at Blue Cross Arena. The win improves Hamilton's record to 17-25-0-2.

Hamilton opened the scoring just 25 seconds into the game when Jean-Philippe Cote notched his first goal of the season. Cote let a quick wrist shot go from the blue-line that beat Rochester goaltender Michael Leighton.

The Bulldogs increased their lead in the second period with two goals on special teams. With Rochester on the power play, Maxim Lapierre tallied the eventual game-winning goal for Hamilton at the 7:05 mark. Then at 13:43, Marc-Antoine Pouliot and Pierre Dagenais combined to set up James Sanford for a power play goal to make the score 3-0.

Rochester cut into Hamilton's lead at the 3:41 mark of the third period when David Cullen scored his third goal of the season.

However, the Amerks wouldn't score again as Deslauriers made 19 saves on 20 shots in the final frame.

Hamilton was 1 for 6 on the power play while Rochester went 1 for 7 with the man-advantage.

The Bulldogs next action will take place on Friday, January 20, when they face the Manitoba Moose in the first of back-to-back games at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. Game time is 8:30 p.m. This game can be seen live on Rogers Sportsnet.
