Novak School Night Books, balls and bats

The Kernels celebrate the second school night of the season with the students,

parents, staff and faculty of Novak Elementary School.

Pre-Game – Novak school will supply National Anthem singers. ... Just for Kix dance team from Cedar Rapids will perform their routines. This group performed at the Outback Bowl on New Year's Day in Tampa, Fla.

Special in-game events – Bob Teig and son Jon Teig will be the batboys for today's game. It is the first time a father-son duo has served as batboys at a Kernels game. Jon is one of the Kernels' three regular batboys. Because of other commitments the other two batboys are unavailable to work and Bob volunteered to step in for them. ... Novak school will perform "Take Me Out to the Ballgame.''

The Kernels celebrate the fourth school night of the season with the students,

parents, staff and faculty of Wilkins Elementary School.

Quiznos Kernels Kids Club Night $1 off for Club members

The Kernels host the third of 16 Quiznos Kernels Kids Club Night of the season. Children 14-under can join the Quiznos Kernels Kids Club by signing up at the Bimm Ridder Diamond Shop or online at www.kernels.com. Cost is $15 and includes a t-shirt, ID card, birthday card from Mr. Shucks, souvenir discounts, gifts, email newsletter and other great items. Quiznos Kernels Kids Club Nights are every Monday and Tuesday throughout the season.

The Kernels celebrate the fifth school night of the season with the students,

parents, staff and faculty of Bowman Woods Elementary School.

KRNA $2 Tuesday Eat, drink, have fun

Every Tuesday is a KRNA $2 Tuesday at the ballpark, with seven

concession items available for $2 each. Those items are hot dogs,

hamburgers, peanuts, single scoop ice cream, bottled water, bottled pop

and 12-ounce draft beers.

Quiznos Kernels Kids Club Night $1 off for Club members

Children 14-under can join the Quiznos Kernels Kids Club by signing up at the Bimm Ridder Diamond Shop or online at www.kernels.com. - 2004 Kernels tickets are available at the Kernels Field Ticket Office at Veterans Memorial Stadium, or by calling 896-7560 or 1-800-860-3609, or on the Internet at www.kernels.com. The ticket office is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays

- All Kernels games can be heard on radio on the Kernels flagship station, The Zone ESPN Radio 1600-AM, with John Rodgers. Games also can be heard on the Internet via www.kernels.com or www.thezone1600.com.

- The Taco Bell 10 Spot happens anytime the Kernels score 10 or more runs in a game, home or away. The next day people all over Cedar Rapids can buy tacos for 39 cents (maximum of 10 tacos) at all Taco Bells by mentioning the "Taco Bell 10 Spot'' or the "Kernels Special." That's a savings of 50 cents per taco.

- Baseball 101 for Women will be held Saturday, May 8, at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Participants will receive instruction from Kernels Manager Bobby Magallanes and Kernels players and coaches. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and includes a t-shirt, lunch from Buffalo Wild Wings, certificates from Capri Cosmetology, and drawings for gift certificates from Pizazz Salon & Spa, and Biaggi's Italian restaurant. Cost is $25. Call the Kernels at 896-7610 or fill out the registration form online at www.kernels.com. Registration forms also are available at the Bimm Ridder Diamond Shop.

- The Kernels Pro-Am Charity golf outing will be held Wednesday, May 19 at Airport National Golf Complex. The event is a six-person best shot with a shotgun start at noon. Groups will include a Kernels player or staff member and an Iowa PGA Section golf pro. Cost is $75 for individuals or $240 for foursomes. Proceeds will benefit the Kernels Foundation and the Airport National Junior Golf program. Call the Kernels at 896-7612 or 896-7608, or complete the registration form available online at www.kernels.com. Registration forms also are available at the Bimm Ridder Diamond Shop.

- Kernels Youth Baseball Camps will be held in late June and early July. The first session, from June 24-26, is for players age 7 to 10. The second, from July 8-10, is for players age 11-14. The camp runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Instruction will be provided by Kernels Manager Bobby Magallanes, Kernels players and coaches. Cost is $90 and includes a camp t-shirt, ballpark-style lunch each day and four tickets to a Kernels game (first session campers on June 27, second session on July 20).
