Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

Burlington Bee starting pitcher Dusty Hughes allowed two hits in six innings and moved his record to 3-0 as the Bees topped the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-1 Friday night at Fox Cities Stadium. The Rattlers committed three errors in the game, including two in a three run Burlington fifth inning.

Wisconsin (6-9) took advantage of a Burlington error in the bottom of the first. Rightfielder Brian McFall dropped a flyball off the bat of Josh Womack and Womack wound up at second base. A sacrifice bunt by Michael Cox moved Womack to third. Adam Jones lined a single to center to drive in the run.

In the fifth, it was the Bees turn to take advantage of errors. Mike Gaffney reached on an error to start the inning and Bryan Graham followed with a single. A three-base error on a fly ball to center chased both Gaffney and Graham across the plate. An RBI groundout made the score 3-1 Burlington.

Adam Keim homered to left to start the Burlington sixth inning to put the Bees in front 4-1.

Hughes, the Midwest League's reigning Pitcher of the Week, did not allow a Rattler hit after the third inning and left after the sixth with three walks and three strikeouts. Kahi Kaanoi pitched the final three innings, allowing only a walk for his first save of the season.

The Timber Rattlers start an eight-game, nine-day road trip Saturday against the Milwaukee Brewers Midwest League affiliate, the Beloit Snappers. Eric O'Flaherty (0-0, 4.01) is the scheduled starter for the Rattlers. Greg Moreira (1-0, 3.27) is slated to start for the Snappers. Game time at Pohlman Field is 4:00pm.
