Dusty Hughes named MWL Pitcher of the Week

Appleton, WI – Burlington Bees left-handed pitcher Dusty Hughes has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week by The Sports Network, the official stat service of Minor League Baseball, for the start of the season April 8-18.

In two starts, Hughes is already 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA. He pitched eight no-hit innings in his debut performance against Wisconsin on April 12 and followed it up by scattering nine hits over seven innings in a win over the Quad Cities on April 17th. Hughes is currently tied for the league lead in wins and tied for fourth in ERA. He makes his next start tonight against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Fox Cities Stadium in Appleton, WI. The game starts at 6:35 PM and will be broadcast live on KBUR AM 1490 and KBKB AM 1360 with the pre-game show starting at 6:15.

Last year, the Bees had two players receive the Pitcher of the Week honors in the league. RHP Kieran Mattison finished a stellar month of May in which he led all of the minors with a 0.44 ERA and was named Pitcher of the Week on June 1st. RHP Jonah Bayliss received the award on August 10th after an outstanding week which included a no-hitter against Peoria.

The Bees return home tomorrow night to start a four-game series against the Clinton LumberKings at 6:00 at Community Field. Tomorrow is Family Night at the ballpark. Mom, Dad, and all the kids that live with them get in for just $13 and one kid in attendance will win a bike from Louisa Communications and JD Byrider. The gates will open at 5:00.
