FISHKILL, NY (July 30, 2015) -- The Cyclones took the rubber-match of a three-game series from the Hudson Valley Renegades on Thursday night, downing the Renegades by the score of 7-1. Tyler Badamo (2-4) was dominant through his 7.0 shutout innings as he collected his first win in nearly a month.

After snapping out of their offensive funk on Wednesday the Cyclones continued their offensive renaissance this evening. Tucker Tharp got things started quickly with a line-drive double down the left field line to lead off the game. After a Vinny Siena ground out moved him up to third base, Michael Bernal sent a fly ball to centerfield that was deep enough for Tharp to score on the sacrifice fly and give Brooklyn the early 1-0 advantage.

The lead would swell to 3-0 in the top of the second courtesy of a two-run home run from Manuel Hilario and then in the third, Brooklyn would take complete control of the game. Vinny Siena worked a one-out walk to start the threat and quickly moved up to third base when Michael Bernal ripped a double to put a pair of runners in scoring position. David Thompson took advantage of the scoring chance with a line-drive double to the left-centerfield gap to score a pair and push the Brooklyn advantage to 5-0. The Cyclones thirdbase man would later come around to score following a throwing error on a pick off attempt by Renegades catcher Josh Rapacz and a wild pitch from Travis Ott to make it 6-0. An RBI single from Enmanuel Zabala in the top of the sixth tacked on an insurance run and pushed the Cyclones edge to 7-0.

That would be more than enough offense as Cyclones starter Tyler Badamo (2-4) mowed through the Hudson Valley lineup. The righthander allowed just two hits over 7.0 shutout frames, walking four and striking out six. In two starts against the Renegades this season, Badamo has allowed just three hits over 14.0 shutout frames.

The Renegades scored a single run in the bottom of the eighth off of Brooklyn reliever Nicco Blank to ruin the shutout effort, but the righthander was able to limit the damage and also toss a 1-2-3 inning in the ninth to close out Brooklyn's 7-1 victory.

With the win, the Cyclones expanded their McNamara Division lead to 1.5 games over the Staten Island Yankees, who were rained out on Thursday night, and 2.0 games over the Renegades and Aberdeen IronBirds. The 'Clones return to MCU Park to open a weekend series with the Batavia Muckdogs on Friday evening with RHP Gaby Almonte (4-2) on the mound.
