Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
Wappingers Falls, NY (7/30/15)- The Hudson Valley Renegades were defeated by the Brooklyn Cyclones by a score of 7-1 on Thursday evening at Dutchess Stadium.
Brooklyn took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning as center fielder Tucker Tharp led off with a double and scored on a RBI sacrifice fly from right fielder Michael Bernal. That lead was extended to 3-0 in the top of the second inning on a two-run home run from catcher Manuel Hilario.
The Cyclones increased their advantage to 6-0 in the top of the third inning as two runs scored on a double from third baseman David Thompson and he scored later in the inning on a wild pitch. That ended the night for Renegades starting pitcher Travis Ott (3-3) as he allowed six runs and five earned runs in three innings.
Brooklyn added another run in the top of the sixth inning to take a 7-0 lead on a infield RBI single from designated hitter Enmanuel Zabala. That was all the run support that Cyclones starting pitcher Tyler Badamo (2-4) needed as he took the win allowing just two hits in seven scoreless innings while striking out six batters.
Hudson Valley scored their lone run of the night in the bottom of the eight inning as with two outs, second baseman Oscar Sanay walked and came around to score on a RBI double by left fielder Joe McCarthy.
With the result, the Renegades fell to 19-19 while the Cyclones improved to 21-17.
Notes: Hudson Valley's bullpen had a strong evening in relief of Ott, combining to allow one run in six innings of work. Luis Urena surrendered one run off one hit in three innings of work and Cris Crisostomo scattered two hits in two scoreless innings. Diego Castillo pitched a three-up, three-down ninth inning with two strikeouts and he has only allowed two runs in his last five appearances, dating back to July 11th.
The Renegades travel to face the Auburn Doubledays for a three-game series, with game one scheduled for Friday, July 31st at 7:05pm. Hudson Valley returns home on Monday, August 3rd at 7:05pm to face the Tri-City ValleyCats. Monday is the "$1,000 Hot Dog Giveaway" at Dutchess Stadium.
