Prince George Cougars News Release

Kent, WA - The Prince George Cougars continued their winning streak with a fourth consecutive triumph, defeating the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 on Friday night at the accesso ShoWare Center.

In an intense battle, goaltender Ty Young showcased yet another outstanding performance, making 38 saves and securing his fourth straight win in four starts.

The game saw no scoring in the opening stanza, but the Thunderbirds broke the deadlock at the 4:15 mark in the second period. Nathan Pilling placed a shot under the crossbar from a challenging angle, giving the Thunderbirds a 1-0 lead. The Cougars responded at 9:20 when Chase Pauls scored on his own rebound, equalizing the game. Not content with just scoring, Pauls delivered a thunderous hit at center ice and engaged in a spirited fight against Coster Dunn. The period showcased terrific goaltending on both ends from Ty Young and Scott Ratzlaff.

In the final frame, the Cats found the go-ahead goal at 10:53, courtesy of Ephram McNutt. The Cougars' blue-liner wristed a shot from the blue line that deflected off a Seattle body and into the net, making it 2-1 at 10:53. Despite Seattle's offensive pressure in the third period, outshooting the Cougars 10-4, Ty Young continued to shine, making save after save to lead his team to a significant 2-1 win.

Looking ahead, the Prince George Cougars will carry their momentum into Portland on Saturday as they face the Winterhawks for the second time this season. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 pm at the Veteran's Memorial Coliseum.
