Tri-City Americans News Release

The Americans started their Central Division road trip with a victory tonight in Lethbridge. A three-goal third period lifted them to a 3-0 victory over the Hurricanes to end a five-game losing stretch. Kyle Kelsey turned aside all 38 shots faced in net to earn his first shutout since joining the Americans (fifth of his career).

It was a battle between goaltenders for most of the night as Kelsey and Hurricanes netminder Harrison Meneghin kept the game scoreless through the first 40 minutes. After the first two periods, Lethbridge led shots-on-goal 26-20 over the Tri-City.

Parker Bell broke the scoreless tie 42 seconds into the third period giving Tri-City a 1-0 lead. Jake Sloan picked up a loose puck and set up Bell in front of the net, where the Calgary Flames prospect scored with his backhand.

With 2:13 remaining in the game, Bell added a second goal to extend Tri-City's lead to 2-0. The 2003-born forward took a shot on a seemingly wide-open net that was initially stopped by an impressive save from the Hurricanes netminder but rolled into the net.

Tonight was Bell's 13th career multi-goal game and his fourth this season.

Jordan Gavin went on to add an empty net dagger in the final seconds of the game to seal the victory for the Americans. The 17-year-old forward has points in his last eight games with five goals and eight assists over that period.

Tri-City trailed shots-on-goal 38-33.

Tonight was the first of six games on Tri-City's Central Division road trip. They will play again tomorrow as they take on the Tigers in Medicine Hat.
