
Twins to Select Contract of Rene Rivera

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they will select the contract of catcher Rene Rivera from Triple-A Rochester prior to tomorrow night's game at Boston. In 13 games with the Red Wings this season, Rivera batted .200 (9-for-45) with two doubles, one home run and six rbi.
Rivera, who will wear uniform number 32, appeared in 53 games for the Seattle Mariners from 2004-06, and has a career batting average of .227 (34-for-150) with seven doubles, three home runs and 10 rbi.
