
Chris Jakubauskas Optioned to Norfolk

The Tides received RH Chris Jakubauskas today after he was optioned from Baltimore on May 2. Jakubauskas, who started for the Tides in a Major League rehab stint in Louisville on May 1, was originally placed on the Orioles DL on April 18, retroactive to April 17, with a strained right groin. He appeared in three games for the Orioles, pitching to a 7.36 ERA (7.1 IP, 6 ER) and twice going at least 3.0 innings. The 6-2 righty will start tonight's game in place of Ryan Drese. Drese is expected to pitch from the pen before returning to the rotation next week.
RH Chorye Spoone was transferred to Bowie to make room for Jakubauskas on the roster. Spoone, who made his first Tides start on April 12 in Gwinnett was 2-0 with a 3.75 ERA. The Tides were 4-1 in games started by Spoone this season.
