
TV Tops Radio in Celebrity Game at Hope at the Scope

NORFOLK, Va. - Local celebrities teamed up for a great cause on Saturday night at Scope as "TV and Friends" topped "Radio and Friends" 6-4 in the 2009 Hope at the Scope celebrity game to benefit the Alzheimer's Association. The Admirals donated a portion of the proceeds from tickets sold from this special game to the Alzheimer's Association.
The "TV and Friends" team included WTKR NewsChannel 3's Kurt Williams, Bianca Martinez, Juliet Bickford, Marie Coronel, Christie Barclay, Corinne Milligan and Nick Allen; WAVY-TV 10's Tom Schaad; and WVEC 13 News' LaSalle Blanks and Joe Flanagan. Former Admirals defenseman Chad Ackerman also laced up the skates again at Scope for "TV and Friends."
The "Radio and Friends" team included 96X's Mike Powers, Bob Fresh, "Slightly Overweight Richie Cunningham," Scotty Mustache and Mark Lees; US106's Brandon O'Brien; FM99's Tim Parker; and former Admirals public address announcer Don Bolger. Former Admirals defenseman David Buckley also returned to Scope ice for "Radio and Friends."
The Alzheimer's Association was also represented at the event by Alzheimer's Association Executive Director Gino Colombara, Director of Development Patricia Bartosch and Alzheimer's Champion and founder of Jim White Fitness Jim White.
The teams were even at one goal apiece after one period. However, the offense exploded in the second period, as "TV and Friends" out-scored "Radio and Friends" 5-3 in the period and claimed the 6-4 win.
Next up on the Admirals' docket is a meeting with the Syracuse Crunch next Friday at Scope. The puck drops against the Admirals' newest East Division rival at 7:15 p.m. Fans should head to Scope to catch this game before the Admirals hit the road for 14 of their next 18 games.
