Indianapolis Indians News Release
LAWRENCEVILLE, GA -- Manny Banuelos pitched a complete-game shutout and the Gwinnett Braves used a pair of sacrifice flies to defeat the Indianapolis Indians on Monday night, 2-0. It marked the Tribe's fourth consecutive loss, a season high for the club who remains in first place in the International League West Division.
Banuelos (6-2) lowered his league-leading earned run average to 2.03 in the victory. Wilfredo Boscan (4-3) pitched well despite the defeat, as the Indians starter went six frames and allowed just the two runs on four hits.
Gwinnett (34-35) pushed across their first run in the fourth when Todd Cunningham hit a sacrifice fly to right field that plated Christian Bethancourt. Eric Young Jr. would achieve the same result in the fifth inning, and Barrett Kleinknecht scored to give the game its final margin of 2-0.
Indianapolis (42-29) did not have a baserunner until Keon Broxton led off the sixth with a single. Steve Lombardozzi would later single to center field, but they were the only two blemishes on Banuelos' final line.
The Tribe will play game two of a four-game set on Tuesday night against the Braves, and will return to Victory Field to open a homestand on Friday evening.
